We are pleased to share that pianist and researcher Antonio Cezar Ferreira has dedicated his doctoral thesis to the teaching career of Roberto Szidon in Germany.
Entitled “ROBERTO SZIDON COMO PROFESSOR DE PIANO NA ALEMANHA: a construção de uma biografia em uma perspectiva sociológica na educação musical” (Roberto Szidon as a Piano Professor in Germany: the construction of a biography from a sociological perspective in music education), the thesis examines Szidon’s academic role and pedagogical approach, highlighting his lasting influence on generations of pianists — among them Prof. Igor Cognolato.
Ferreira’s research offers valuable insights into this unique legacy, combining musicological study with sociological analysis. He also expressed his gratitude to all participants and colleagues who supported the project, including Igor. This dissertation represents an important step in recognizing Szidon’s contribution to international piano pedagogy and in documenting the lineage of his artistic and educational heritage.
